After last weeks heroics when beating Section A leaders Drivers, Healing Legion A deservingly take the headline this week after snatching all six points at West End B. Although some of the frame scores were very close, it was Mike Crooks, Pete Krofchak, Nigel Barr, Dave Peterson, Roger Cropp and Paul Stringer who won the lot to keep themselves firmly in the hunt for promotion.
The top team Drivers returned to winning ways with a 4-2 at home against Westlands B. Phil Watts and Mark Woolliss were their 2-0 heroes with Andy Barry, Sean Norfolk, Gordon Abernethy and Matty Clayton winning singles against Shaun Cook, Tom Jackson, Johnpaul Teanby and Dave Gunn.
After last week’s victory, Cromwell B were brought back down to earth with a bang when losing 5-1 at home against Healing Mens. Daz Roche and Cliff Rigby won their solitary frame against Dean Austwick and Brian Woods whilst Andy Stanley, Dave Leen, Den Wallis and Jamie Wallis were the 2-0 winners for the Mens.
Bottom of the table Standard A got off to a reasonable start at Clee Bowls B when Pete Gibson, John Brocklesby, Tony Eglin and Jack Bradshaw shared the first four frames with Janett Newell, Bernard Keeble, Mike Barrett and Ralph Dale. They couldn’t keep things going however, as a last board 2-0 from Nigel Francis and Dave Walton gave the Bowlers a 4-2 victory.
Clee Cons B, the leaders in the Premier Section, found themselves 3-1 down at Healing Legion B after Dave Lainchbury and Lloyd Howell won both their frames for the home team and Chris Jennings and Barry Pearce shared with Craig Waddingham and Martin Dowling. They recovered to earn a 3-3 draw however, as Mark Goss and Steve Donner won the last two frames of the night.
A.M.S. (UK) got off to a dodgy start at Stamford Homes A when John Baker and Chris Brown won the first two frames for the home team. It wasn’t to last though, as Stuart Powell, Martin Russell, Lynn Powell and Phil Spillman won the remaining frames for the visitors in a 4-2 victory.
Club-mates Stamford Homes B reversed this score when they won 4-2 at Blossom Way B. Den Leggett and Ben Goodman were their 2-0 winners with Gaz Horsfall, Shane Newbold, Chris Madsen and Glen Leggett sharing with the Blossoms Stuart Gibb, Adie Markham, Kev Gowing and Kev Johnson.
Clee Cons A went down 4-2 at home against Clee Bowls A after Steve Trott and Paul Simpson won the only 2-0 in the match for the visitors. Sharing the rest of the frames were Gordon Dawson, Roy Ling, Steve Ceclich and Mick Chew against the Cons Rob Willerton, Richard Gough, Damon Gresham and Craig Thomas.
Yet another 4-2 came at Taylor Made Carpets when after losing the first two frames to Dave Dixon and Cliff Goldsack of West End A, Ian Sadler, Fred Parker, Craig Taylor and Rick Pacey won the rest for the home team.
