As we approach the final stages of the RCS Landscapes Intermediate Snooker league the picture at the top has become no clearer. Another top of the table clash saw the Cue World derby between Simon Devaney Builders and Matric and it got off to a brilliant start with Craig Waddingham getting the weeks highest break, 97, in the very first frame giving Matric the lead. Not to be outdone Stuart Carrington knocked in a 50 in the next as the Builders were soon level. Steve Donner & Rick Bass put Matric back into the lead by taking a close third frame and then an equally close fourth frame was taken by Danny Harrison & Luke Maddison. For the third time in the match Matric took the lead as Daz Stansfield & Paul West made it 3-2 but the Builders would not go away as Matt Devaney & Craig Rowbotham restored parity once again. Jamie Barrett knocked in a 71 break to level Icing Cabin’s match away at Bryants Carpets. It got worse for the Cabin after this as a 2-0 from Jamie Green & Daz Potter put the defending Champions 3-1 up. With Tony Aisthorpe & Terry Burns on last the Cabin always had a chance and they took it as they also won 2-0 to tie the match. After losing the first frame at home to Clee Cons A, Peter Hogarth & Sons never looked back as Kev Ratcliffe, Graham Richardson, Mike Emerson, Nige Cordy, Ian Hogarth & Steve Ceclich won the next five frames for a 5-1 result. Tom Walker & Craig Kuzemczak (48) put Hainton B 3-1 up away at T R Carpets but a rearguard action by Jon Steel and Rick Coulbeck was too good as Carpets rescued a draw. Butch Reynolds & Mike Gibney gave Cue World a 2-0 lead over Birds Eye as they hoped to maintain their title push. The next two frames were shared and then Scott Templeman & Tony Jagger won the last two frames as Birds Eye rescued a draw.
In Section B, Clee Cons hit West End D for six with Tony Forster, Rob Willerton, Michael Vincent & Damon Gresham putting them 4-0 up. After this Lee Pawson & Ian England had no difficulty seeing off Neal Bristow & Mike Needham as they completed the slam. Also winning 6-0 but in less stylish circumstances were Carr Lane Social A. After Alan & Arthur Young won 2-0 no more frames were played as Stamford could only field 3 players. Mick Wright, John Crockart, Keith & Adam Board put RCS Landscapes B 4-0 up away at Grimsby Police B before a late salvage operation enabled the Police to limit the damage to a 5-1 defeat. It was a similar story at West End B with Martin Shaw, Dave Lawson, Mal Naulls & Alan Porritt winning 2-0 in a 5-1 win over Express Appliances with Rob Baker & S Gollings stopping the rot. The match between Clee Bowls N & Cambridge Graduates saw each pair win a frame, Dave Colley 39. A 2-0 from Ken Payne & Brian Hotson was crucial as Webbonet Website Design beat Carr Lane Social B away to maintain their top two challenge. Also still right in there are Hainton A and they too won 4-2. Rob Brown, Rob Broughton, Craig Smith & Daz Evans had put them 4-0 up before Craig Sidney & Pete Wraith pulled two back for Westlands C. Steve Piggott, Byron Hatfield, Nigel Mumby & John Ford won 2-0 as Westlands D easily overcame Crazy Potters 5-1.
