The Roy Ling Mutual Grimsby Snooker League Singles.
30th January 2012.
Report by Dave Webster.
The top match this week came at the Cromwell Club when Section C leaders Cromwell Rat Pack played host to club-mates Cromwell Willo, who are second in the table. The Rats got off to a good start when Ryan Johnstone shared the first two frames with Chris Tuck and Dave Bass won 2-0 against Alex Burnett. Two very close frames followed which saw Mick Greenhalgh finish one-apiece with Rick Kirk before the “home” team continued the fine form when Rick Bass won the last two frames for a 6-2 victory.
Cue World Beginners failed to take advantage of their good start against South Bank when going down 5-3. A 2-0 from Richard Kelk and a single from Phil Madin against Alan Wortley had them 3-1 up but Mick Reed and Tony Potter won the last four frames for the Bankers.
Rapid Frames lost 6-2 at Ray Edmonds N when Lee Singleton and Anthony Hepton both won 2-0 and Mark Smith and Jase Sanders shared with Rik Walden and Tim Cattell.
Jam McKeon won the first two frames for Ray Edmonds Jubilee against Ramsdens Home Interiors but that was their lot as John Anderson, Chris Dunham and Craig Hatfield won all the rest for the Interiors in another 6-2 victory.
A 2-0 from Steve Mawer and singles from John Morton, Craig Sidney and Danny Morton gave G.S.N. Westlands a 5-3 at home against Healing Legion. Picking up the visitors points were Ricky Thornton, Roy Wilson and John Horne.
2-0 wins from Stu Sadler and Lee Waterman and singles from Dave Tomlinson and Terry Bird against Wayne Douglas and Paul Grayson (41) gave Carr Lane E a 6-2 victory against Birds Eye B.
Grimsby Police A beat T.R. Carpets B 5-3 after Kev Ferguson and George Walters both won two and Sandy Young shared with Rick Mazingham. Jamie Smith won the other two frames for T. R's.
Ian and Lewis Singleton won a frame each for Cabbies against Carl Salah and Andy Fletcher but Shaun Taylor and Marc Phillips snatched the last four frames for Ray Edmonds K as they won the match 6-2.
Novartis beat Birds Eye A 6-2 when Rick Francis, Matt Jones and Richard Caunt all won 2-0 in reply to a 2-0 from Brian West.
It was first versus second in Section D when Ray Edmonds B entertained Laceby Legion in what turned out to be a one-sided game. Scott Grice shared the first two frames with visitor John Hindley but from then on it was one-way traffic for the home team as Ian Grice, Geoff Davis and Phillip Marshall all won 2-0 in a 7-1 victory.
Standard B drew 4-4 at Cambridge C when John Brocklesby won both his frames for the visitors and Barry Loveday and Mick Harrison shared with Gary White and Pete Tacey. Craig Allerston won the two for Cambridge.
2-0 wins from Andy Kenningale and Simon Timpson and singles from Shane Couldstone and Jeff Leak against Nick Masters and Steve Arnold gave Road Runners a 6-2 against Ray Edmonds S.
In a rather hard to decipher score sheet, it would appear that Cue World N beat Cue World Boys 5-3.
Bernard Christy won both his frames, and Adrian Webster, George Emmitt and Dave Doore shared with Mick Bird, Brian Broomhead and Keith Fuller as Hasbeens beat Cromwell B 5-3.
Mathew Board and Ady Butler won a frame each for Ray Edmonds Rock Bottoms at Cromwell Car Care but the home team went on to win 6-2 as Rick Mallam and R. Musgrave won the last four frames.
Webbonet completed their second 8-0 slam against West End A in the Premier Section when Paul Clark, Nige Emmerson, Paul Metcalf and Mick Ponsonby proved far too good for the opposition.
Clee Cons A also won 8-0 at Blossom Way B but unfortunately we have no details of the match.
A 2-0 from Paul Smith and singles from Lee Blanchard and Tony Miller against Kev Ashby and Bob Reeves was enough to earn Grimsby Fireplace Centre a share of the spoils at Cue World Granddads. Ivan Harvey won the other two frames for Cue World.
Willows Sea Foods grabbed three frames at Flor Pro when Andy Rouse won 2-0 and Steve Pawson shared with John Ashford-Smith. Jamie Richardson and Alan Edmonds both won two for the home team.
An opening 2-0 from Steve Donner was cancelled out by a last board 2-0 from Ian Crosby as Ray Edmonds A drew 4-4 at West End C.
Metshine Westlands hit Clee Cons B for six when Tony Aisthorpe and Mick Thornton both won 2-0 and Pete Smith and Tim Gillin shared with Paul Beasley and Lee Pawson.
Ray Edmonds Enigma’s stay ahead of the pack in Section A after a 5-3 home win against Carr Lane D. Luke Maddison and Liam Oswin were their 2-0 winners with Daz Potter sharing with Kevin Munson. The visitors 2-0 winner was Brian Ryley.
A 2-0 from Mark Wilkinson and singles from Andy Hill, Jody Leverton and Karl Leverton gave Cambridge H a 5-3 at Cromwell A. Picking up the frames for the home team were Ian Taylor, Sid Bird and Simon Bensley.
A three man M.J. Decorators drew 4-4 at Clee Bowls A thanks mainly to a 2-0 from Frazer Jones who hit breaks of 39, 31 and 30.
An opening 2-0 from Ray Hammond and singles from Butch Reynolds, Paul Codd and Tony Storr gave Hainton A a 5-3 victory at home against Steve Austwick Garden Services. The visitor’s points came from Pete Mitchell, Steve Austwick and Cameron Dunlop.
Chris Taylor won the first two frames for Hainton B at Stamford Homes B but Jon Leggett won the last two for the home team in a 4-4 draw.
Firemen beat Ray Edmonds J 5-3 when Craig Kuzumczak won both his frames and Martin Dowling, John Phillipson and Tom Walker shared with Daz Kaveney, Andy Smith and Adam Gladding.
Section B leaders Green Army put the cosh to Clee Bowls Police when Daz Evans, with breaks of 72 and 39, Shane Newbold, Chris Madsen and Gaz Horsfall all won 2-0 in an 8-0 slam.
Second placed T.R. Carpets A had to settle for six at Standard A after Darren Hare and Phil Scanlan won a frame each for the home team. Scott Long and Dave Morley won the 2-0’s for the Carpets whilst Rick Gilliatt and Scott Templeman scored the singles.
Grimsby Police thrashed Clee Bowls C 7-1 when Jim Wood, Jase Nutting and Ian Dannatt all won 2-0 and Gaz Dannatt won a single against slam-saver Harry Putland.
Healing Mens won by the same score at Carpet Factory Outlet when Terry Lloyd, Gary Wright and Drew Winship all won two and Howard Betts shared with Kane Munton.
A single from Nigel Mumby against Matty Clayton and a 2-0 from John Ford put Westlands A 3-1 up at 1 None Golfer. They couldn’t improve on that however, as Gordon Abernethy and Phil Watts won the last four frames for the home team in a 5-3 victory.
Nats B beat Grey N Balding 5-3 when Stu Wilkinson and Keith Board both won two and Chris Yull shared with Ade Scrimshaw. The Grey’s 2-0 winner was Mike Caborn.
A very friendly game between Westlands Juniors and Stamford Snipers saw all the players win and lose a frame in a 4-4 draw.
Mick Gowen won both his frames for Clark Self Drive but Kev Gowing did the same for Blossom Way A as the teams drew four apiece.
